Happy New Year!

I'm definitely late getting this post from drafts to published! ;)

Happy New Year all! I was rather quiet this past Fall due to focus on work related projects and less about shooting training. It's been a hectic year with getting let go from my job and figuring out my next chapter.

Highlights from 2019 in my Instagram best nine. Ask me about anything in the comments below!

Highlights from 2019!

It's now 2020 and lots of "stuff" is in the works. Some I can talk about now and some I will later on.

For now...  shooting!

Upcoming competitions I'll be competing and representing Canada at:

Busy schedule filled with lots of travel. The one I am still figuring out schedule for is the Grand Prix in May as it conflicts with the BC Provincials but is also very close to the ISSF World Cup dates. Main issue is it's a lot of travel between Vancouver and Toronto. I'll connect to Munich via Toronto airport.

I'll be doing at least one blog post a month this year so stay tuned for more updates from Europe next week!

2013 BC Air Champ... 2 yrs in a row

Had a great shoot this weekend in Richmond, BC for the 2013 BC Airgun Championships finishing 1st for the second straight year. My scores were 563, 556, and 567 for a total of 1686, only 6 points ahead of fellow BC Team teammate Edmond Lee.

On day 1, the first match I shot a 99 and 98 in my first 20 shots which was my best start ever. My score dropped a bit in the afternoon so I need to work on that. It can be a bit draining shooting a second match only a couple hours later. Endurance!

The second day started out decent with shots 11-20 resulting in another 99. Below is my scorecard for the 567.

567/600 score card from 2013 BC Airgun Championships
Taking a bit of a break the next few weeks and then will start ramping up training leading up to June when I'll travel down to Fort Benning, Georgia for the 2013 USA Rifle & Pistol National Championships.

2012 BC Airgun Champion!

The BC Airgun Championships were this weekend in Richmond, BC and I became Provincial Champion with scores of 556/600, 562/600, and 565/600. I'm still sorting out some issues with my gun's grip and it seems like I need to tighten the screws on the grip about every 10 shots or so.

New grip has been ordered anyway! :) Should arrive in April giving me a few weeks to train with it before the World Cup in Milan, Italy this coming May.

Also, before I forget here is a photo of our BC Team at the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix last weekend in Toronto wearing our awesome new BCTSA sponsored jackets:

(L-R) John Lublinkhof, Jessie Lublinkhof, Mathew Klein,
John Berta, Edmond Lee, Al Harding

I finished in 4th at the Grand Prix, which was a decent result considering I was dealing with technical difficulties.

2012 National Dev Team... time to step up!

I made the 2012 National Development Team! Yes!

Busy next few months...

February 11-12
I'll be taking my Level 1 Technical of the NCCP Coaching Course. I took the A+B components last year and now an opportunity to take the Level 1 Technical has come up so I'm going to do it. Details are available on the BCTSA website.

February 23-27
Going to Toronto, Ontario for the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix -- North America's biggest ISSF air gun competition. HUGE THANK YOU to BC Target Sports for funding assistance to attend!

Last year I finished as the top Canadian shooter, this year I plan to beat my scores from last year.

March 2-4
A couple weeks later I'll be attending the BC Airgun Championships in Richmond, BC. If you're planning to shoot make sure you register early -- Forms are on the BCTSA website! If you're interested in what this sport is all about, feel free to stop by and watch.

...and then I'll be going overseas to one of the ISSF World Cup competitions this year!

Tied for 1st place at 2010 BC Airgun Championships

I ended up tied for 1st place at the 2010 BC Airgun Championships in Richmond, BC. The way the tie-break is done though is by counting back from the last shot to find who ended better. Out of 3 complete courses of fire (180 shots) both Edmond Lee and myself ended up at 1686/1800 points.

Congrats to my fellow Team BC teammate Edmond Lee who had a slightly better last target than me.

I'm off for a few weeks before getting ready for Provincials in Campbell River (early May) where I'll break in my new 50M pistol which should arrive in a couple of weeks. Next up after that, will probably be the 2010 Canadian National Pistol Championships being held in Granby, Quebec August 25 to 31, 2010.

Currently in 1st at the 2010 BC Airgun Championships

This weekend is the 2010 BC Airgun Championships being held in Richmond, BC. This is the same range where I train at most weeks. Today I shot a 563/600 and a 565/600, a slight improvement over my pair of 560/600's I shot at the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix in Toronto 2 weeks ago. To add some context, the Olympic minimum qualification score for 10M Pistol is 563/600.

I'm currently in 1st place with one more relay on Sunday... Stay tuned for updates!

Day 2 - 2008 BC Airgun Championships Results - new personal best!

A great day of shooting today with a lot of high scores. I shot a new personal best of 568/600. Tyler Johnson and Edmond Lee both shot 569/600 and Dorothy Ludwig shot a new personal best also at 387/400 which is probably the highest score shot at the match when calculated by percentage. Nice!

Al Harding collects his medal
1st in master class and new personal best

Edmond Lee was the overall Match Winner for men with a total of 1716/1800 (569,578,569). Tyler Johnson was the top male Junior with a total of 1698/1800 (560,569,569). I was 1st in the Master class with a total of 1694/1800 (564,562,568).

Day 1 - 2008 BC Airgun Championships

Just a quick update...

The BC Airgun Championships consist of 3 matches, 2 shot on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. This morning I shot my highest since returning to the sport last May.. a 564/600 followed by a 562/600 this afternoon. If you've been following my blog and my progress since last year you'll notice my scores are slowly moving up.

I believe I'm currently in 3rd -- Two shooters who I really respect; Edmond Lee and Tyler Johnson both shot personal bests today. Impressive. Edmond shot a 578 which ties the BC record set in 2000 by Arno Baron and Tyler Johnson, still a junior shooter, shot a 569 which is a new BC Junior record. Tyler unofficially beat my BC Junior record (566/600 set in 1993) last November.

The aggregate score (out of a possible 1200 so far) for the 3 of us from today:

Edmond Lee - 1147 (569 + 578)
Tyler Johnson - 1129 (560 + 569)
Al Harding - 1126 (564 + 562)

More to come tomorrow...

2008 B.C. Airgun Championships - February 29 - March 2

The Joe Elkin Memorial - 2008 BC Airgun Championships are being held once again in Richmond, BC on February 29 - March 2nd. The BC Target Sports Association website has been updated with PDF downloads of the Regulations and Registration forms.

That will be an extremely busy week for me as I'll be in Toronto from February 21 - 26 and then will only have a couple days before the BC Airgun Championships.

Less than 4 weeks to go until the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix. Exciting! :)
